RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Gruaud-Larose is matrued in barrels, of which 40% are new, for 16 to 18 months. The wines is produced by a careful blending of five grape varieties; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The wine is characterized by an intense red color. There is alo an intense bouquet, in which the aromas of the grape varieties mingle elegantly. In the mouth there is good structure with smooth, plentiful tannins and conisderable volume. Robert Parker 89, Wine Spectator 91.

Tasted on three separate occasions, this cuvee exhibits a dark ruby color (with much less saturation than many wines of the vintage) as well as a distinctive, herbal, meaty, horsey nose, medium to full body, good depth, power, and richness, and soft tannins. The wineandrsquo;s rustic aromas and earthy style are intriguing and provocative. While an excellent effort, the 2005 Gruaud Larose is not one of the stars of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2011andndash;2022.
Good red-ruby. Redcurrant, leather and game on the expressive if slightly rustic nose. Sweet and concentrated but a bit youthfully aggressive, and not showing the refinement or definition of the 2006. Strong nutty oak component. Finishes with substantial tannins that are a bit richer and more fully buffered by the wineandrsquo;s middle-palate material than those of 2006. It will be interesting to compare these two vintages in ten years or so.
Tasted single blind at Southwold. This is more reticent on the nose that other Saint Julien andrsquo;05s. Pure blackberry, a touch of cassis, cedar and wild hedgerow. Well defined though. The palate has sappy black fruits, perhaps a little too polished with a supple, sensuous finish with notes of blackberry, plum and a touch of tangerine. Very good length although not as profound as some of its contemporaries. Still, a lovely wine to savour rather than analyze. Drink 2012andndash;2025.
Deep ruby. Fresh aromas of blackberry, kirsch, cedar and leather. Intensely flavored and powerful, with very fresh, precise flavors of dark berries, cigar box, violet, licorice, espresso and bitter chocolate. Offers an enticing combination of ripenes... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2005 Gruaud Larose 1500ml
Aromas of blackberry, toasted oak, sweet tobacco and espresso. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, fruity finish. I like the texture. Best after 2010. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.
