Greatest wine from the estate since 1945. Absolutely wonderful aromas of flowers, currants and citrus. Full-bodied, yet very, very refined, with a center core of fruit that tastes like crushed raspberries. It goes on and on across the palate. Best after 2010.

A dense garnet/ruby/purple color is followed by a wine with a sweet, jammy, black-cherry, Asian spice, soy, and earthy-scented nose. This big, beefy, medium to full-bodied 1995 Gruaud Larose displays excellent ripeness, plenty of muscle and glycerin, and sweet yet noticeable tannin in the heady, intensely spicy finish. this is a mid-weight, substantial wine that needs 6-7 years to shed its tannin; it should keep for two decades.

The 1988 Gruaud-Larose is probably a 30-year wine. Surprisingly powerful, rich, concentrated, long, and full bodied for a 1988, and reminiscent of the 1975 only less savage, it appears to be a more complete with than either the 1989 or 1990. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025.

Aromas of blackberry, toasted oak, sweet tobacco and espresso. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, fruity finish. I like the texture. Best after 2010. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

Revealing more grip and tannin since bottling, the 1995 Gruaud-Larose exhibits a dark ruby color, and a nose of sweet black cherries, licorice, earth, and spice. Rich, with medium to full body, high tannin, and subtle oak in the background, the 1995 is nearly as structured and tannic as the 1996. The two vintages are more similar than dissimilar. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020.

Deep ruby. Black fruits, espresso, violet and licorice on the nose. Reasonably concentrated and not at all hard; flavors build slowly in the mouth. I don't yet get a sense of thorough flavor development-this is rather grapey at the moment-but there g... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 1998 Gruaud Larose 750ml

This tastes of great Cabernet Sauvignon, with its black currant, cedar and herbs and fresh, juicy acidity. It is as fresh as it is rich, but it has a structure of dense tannins that balances the wine. This is one of the best wines from Gruaud-Larose for several years.
