Chateau Greysac Medoc Crub 2003

Member Review by rob198:

$18 Bordeaux of the Medoc appellation Intense and concentrated nose loaded with cherry. A few layers stick out other than the fruit; mineral, chalk. All in all a tremendous value and a delicious wine. For me this is close to the maximum I'll spend for a non-occasion wine and it did not disappoint. Deep ruby color, medium/full bodied, astringent as the Sahara. Would def recommend and drink again! My rating: 89/100 For the money: 89/100

Château Greysac:
Standing on the gravel hummocks of the hamlet of By, Château Greysac has developed immensely in the last thirty years. Its wines are a faithful reflection of this great terroir - delicate, aromatic and ample, as well as elegant and complex.

This wine has a fruity smell of cherry. It tastes like cherry and cinnamon in the mouth, and feels smooth and round.

Bought a case. Four bottles were corked. Good wine, but risky purchase.

A great find from a great vintage. Currently enjoying it on a mellow Saturday evening.

From a classic Cabernet vintage, this quintessential Médoc Bordeaux is deeply colored, with pleasant aromas of plummy fruit, chocolate and earth. The tannins are firm, but balanced nicely by the wine's fleshy ripeness. This wine will age nicely for 5 to 7 years, but is drinking nicely now with a good decanting. A fine match for roast leg of lamb.
