A blend of 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon this Sauternes shows a lovely pale golden color with deep golden highlights, and it offers aromas of candied fruits backed up by a hint of exotic fruit (mango, guava). This estate was founded in 1789 and was bought by the Bernard family in 1850. It is now owned and run by Florence and Michel Bernard.They are heavily involved in tourism as well as winemaking. It is a small estate with 8 hectares under vine located between Chateau Climens and Chateau Coutet usually producing around 2000 cases of Sauternes a year
Medium-bodied, dense, very dry wine with interesting notes of cassis and spice - clove perhaps? - and notes of tobacco on the finish.
Absolutely loved this sweet desert wine. Paired it with bleu cheese and chocolate to balance out the sweetness of the wine. By far one of the best pairings I have ever had.
Very good sauternes, with moderate botyritis, good acidity, and nice balance. Toasted coconut and tropical fruit notes, with a soft sweet finish.
This Sauternes can be considered a young adult and gives you a sub-top quality wine for a very good price! Good balance between acids and sugars, subtle botrytis, but with less depth than the top of the class of this year. Easily accesible and certainly good for another 5-10 years!
