Chateau Grande Cassagne Costieres de Nimes Rose 2012

Winemaker's Notes:

Looking for a dry Southern French Rose that is an incredible value and also has a deep concentration of fruit flavors? Then the Grande Cassagne from the Languedoc-Roussillon in the South of France is for you. The producers, the Darde brothers have become quite well known for their explosively fruited dry Rose. Produced from tiny berries off forty-plus year old vines, the grapes are fermented a short time on their skins, providing an electric pink color, soaring aromatics, and fully dry palate. The Grande Cassagne Rose exudes red fruits and a strawberry perfume. [60% Syrah, 40% Grenache]

Almost verging on full-bodied, this fresh, juicy-styled rosé has racy strawberry, cherry and a hint of black currant flavors. The finish is firm and dry with a hint of stone and cherry pit.

Shows tangy cherry and blood orange notes, with hints of spice and tea weaving through the lively finish. Drink now.

Deep raspberry in color, the 2012 Chateau Grande Cassagne Costieres-de-Nimes Rose has a Tavel like bouquet of ripe cherry, underbrush and mineral to go with a medium-bodied, fresh and lightly textured palate. More fresh and lively on the palate than the color or aromas would lead you to believe, this solid effort can be consumed on its own and will be versatile on the dinner table. Enjoy it over the coming year. Drink now–2013.
