Chateau Grand Traverse Pinot Grigio Old Mission Peninsula 2012

Member Review by connie7899:

This was a surprising find. Sometimes, there are low expectations with Michigan wine and this one held to the pinot grigio standard, but was possibly a bit better. It seemed to have a high alcohol content but it was not hot. It had a full mouth feel. Usually pinot grigio's lack that depth or leave you feeling like the wine is watered down. This did not.

Lackluster white wine. Truly Chateau Grand Traverse should stick with Riesling. That is what they are good at.

Living in Michigan, I usually find most MI white to be semi-sweet or sweeter, so I was surprised to find and taste a dry Pinot Grigio from Chateau Grand Traverse wines in Traverse City. An expected slight grassy nose and a creamy, but maybe too honied taste. Nothing sensational, but quite decent...it lacks the citrusy punch of an Italian Pinot Grigio, but otherwise a nice pairing with a chicken dish. And, I'm happy to support a good Michigan wine! Retailed at $13.49
