Editorial Reviews for Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste Red Bordeaux Blend Pauillac
A beauttiful Bordeaux with classic earthy, cassis, pencil lead and cigar smoke notes on the nose then a palate of superb balance. The rich, dried chile, cassis and smoky soil tinged palate was refined and restrained with power yet streamlined weight. The finish was long and warm with a bit of dried fruit, raisined sweetness. A grand wine 93pts.
I have very limited notes because I was so enthralled with the wine but what really sticks out was how smooth and balanced it was. The nose was meaty with a bit of cheese rind and flower petals. The fruit was perfectly in sync with the tannin and acidity. Tobacco and soil on the finish. This was in my top three (out of 31) of the evening.
Mellow red fruits, cherries and raspberries on the nose, a bit of powdered sugar. Flavors of oak, good acidity, a bit of licorice, and well structured tannins.
Wet wool on the nose. Acidity, to the point of the prickly sensation on the front of the tongue, and balance showing well.
Staggering wine. Absolutely fantastic. I bought a case at Harvey and Nic´s in London in 1994 for 18 pounds a bottle. I thoght it extravagant at the time - now it looks like a steal! Tremendous blackcurrants on the nose. Fascinating harmony on the palate. À point right now - and goes terribly well with owenbaked deer with roasted suedes. Don't stretch your luck - invite somebody to a great meal and enjoy- I will. Björn Wollentz Sweden

Not as impressive as it once was; nonetheless, a rich and caressing wine. Sweet berry flavor, with hints of tobacco and raisin. Medium- to full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a caressing finish.--1982 Bordeaux horizontal. Drink now. (JS) Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 1982 Grand-Puy-Lacoste 1500ml
One of the greatest Grand-Puy-Lacostes ever produced, the 1982 still possesses a youthful, dense opaque purple color with slight lightening at the edge. The nose remains somewhat monolithic, but an intense black currant/creme de cassis-scented bouque... Robert Parker. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 1982 Grand-Puy-Lacoste 1500ml
