Château Grand Corbin-Despagne Red Bordeaux Blend St. Émilion Grand Cru 2003

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

Subtle aromas of crushed berries and milk chocolate rise slowly from the glass. Full-bodied, yet compacted and tight, with silky tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Best after 2006.

Blackberry, raspberry and licorice aromas. Medium-to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long finish. Very silky. Better than previously reviewed. Best after 2008.

This up and coming estate is fashioning dense, powerful wines. The black/purple-colored 2000 is a sleeper of the vintage. Revealing aromas of wood smoke, iron, blackberries, and cassis, this full-bodied, layered, powerful, muscular St.-Emilion has some tannin to shed, but its finish reveals considerable persistence. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2018.
