Bright red-ruby. Musky, moderately ripe aromas of plum, tobacco leaf and herbs. Fruity and supple but a bit simple, combining a candied quality and some green notes in the middle plate. Lacks real depth and finishes with a repeating suggestion of can... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Giscours 750ml

Giscours '06 is moderatly dense with a ripe, "sweet", scented yet muted black fruit nose. The wine has a soft center and finish with moderate tannic grip. Attractive pure fruit notes rem ain. Elegant and fine. Tasted from barrel April '07. By early 2009, Giscours is open to the nose, soft, fragrant and inviting. In the mouth, the wine is textured with a soft, ample center balanced by gentle, fine tannins in a lasting finish enhanced by "sweet" fruit notes. Charming, elegant and classically Margaux. A deep ruby/plum/purple hue is followed by aromas of tar, licorice, black currants, and roasted herbs, sweet, sexy fruit, soft, velvety tannins, medium to full body, and impressive purity. Drink this plush Margaux over the next 15-18 years. Robert Parker. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2006 Giscours 1500ml

One of the largest of the Margaux properties, the château owns over 80 hectares of vineyards in the commune of Labarde. The blend is based on Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cab Franc to finish. Blackberries, Cassis & cocoa come together with polished tannins. Decant and enjoy now or hold for another 5 years.

Winemaker's Notes:

Ch. Giscours is always a more serious wine than its stable mate, Ch. du Tertre
- a result of a very different terroir - and the 2006 is no different.
Giscours' 2006 is more typically Margaux and less masculine than in recent
vintages. It is extremely aromatic, ripe and savoury with floral hints,
however, despite the fine-grained tannins its rich, dark fruit and hefty
structure shows that it still has lot of guts and depth. This is quite a
cerebral wine but its multi-layered personality makes it well worth the effort.
Why not buy this and the Du Tertre and drink the latter while you wait for the
former to mature! Drink: 2015-2022.
