One of my favorite inexpensive offerings from the Blaye region, this deep ruby/purple-colored 2005 reveals relatively big tannin for its style along with plenty of blackberry and earthy fruit, and impressive body, density, glycerin, and alcohol

Tasted May 2008: This wine has 15%vol. alcohol and comes from at least 90% Merlot grapes -- the epitome of a modern wine on the right bank of the Gironde. The colour is a deep, yet not opaque garnet with a rim showing signs of maturation. The bouquet is big and full of juicy fruit, with ripe Merlot accents and some finesse. In the mouth a sweet wine, crammed with cherry fruit and a touch of strawberries, medium-bodied, rather alcoholic, yet with excellent purity, gorgeous freshness, silky tannins and not a touch of tar or other off-putting aromas.
