Food Pairings for Château Gachon Red Bordeaux Blend Montagne-St. Émilion
External Reviews for Château Gachon Red Bordeaux Blend Montagne-St. Émilion
In 2005 it is believed by many experts that the Right Bank Bordeaux regions (St. Emilion, Pomerol etc.) had their best vintage of all time!! Château Gachon in the Montagne St. Emilion is an award-winning, family-run winery which produces excellent wine year after year. Their vineyards lie on "fantastic" terroir, with deep chalk soils, over looking St. Emilion. Their owner Gerard Aspin and his son spend a lot of time in the vineyards to ensure the best possible quality. This is their flagship wine, the Cuvee Saint Georges, a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc which is aged in new oak barrels for complexity and richness. We did a tasting of about 40 different ’05 Bordeaux and this wine blew away the field. It had everything going for it- rich dense fruit, a solid backbone and enticing hints of new oak. Don’t miss this impressive great value blend that shows great depth and longevity.
