Château Fortia Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

The Domain Chateau Fortia, is one of the oldest of Chateauneuf du Pape. History has it that it used to be an outbuilding of the pontifical castle where the cardinals kept their stables. The red wines are produced from the grape-varieties Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Counoise. They have a steady color mostly crimson often fringed with violet. Rich in complex aromas with prominent scents of prune and blackcurrant. According to the "castel papale" custom, these wines go well with roasts, grills, red meats, game and cheeses. They are at their best served at 17° - 18° C. The 'Cuvee de Baron' is a very textured and silky wine with lovely concentration and a lightness of touch in the winemaking which belies the power of this superb wine.
