A major “sleeper of the vintage,” the 2008 offers fabulous aromas and flavors of black currants, black cherries, loamy soil, graphite and earth. Dense and supple textured with abundant fat and concentration in its medium to full-bodied, complex, evolved personality, it should drink well for 15+ years.
91% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc , and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in new French oak. Deep ruby core with paler rim. Black cherry and spice aromas seem to spring from the glass. The palate packs an initial wallop of flavor, with ripe dark berry and subt... Eddie Wolowski. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2008 Fonplegade 750ml
Saturated medium ruby. Aromas of blackberry, kirsch, violet and dark chocolate, along with some tarry high tones. Densely packed and impressively concentrated, with fine-grained flavors of sweet dark cherry, currant and graphite. Offers surprising lift in the middle palate and finishes with broad, chocolatey tannins. This has the density to evolve in bottle for 10 or 15 years.

April 2008. Now owned by an American syndicate, this hillside property, not far from Angelus, has been completely renovated, and the quality has risen with each new vintage. The finest wine I?ve tasted over the last three decades is their 2005, which exhibits a dense purple color as well as a sweet nose of black currant and cherry jam intermixed with licorice, smoke, espresso roast, and scorched earth. Full-bodied with impressive concentration, a beautiful texture, and a long, 40+ second finish, this superb wine is unquestionably a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2030.
