Château Filhot Sauternes En Primeur 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Shows some botrytis spice and dried fruit character on the nose. Full-bodied, very sweet and thick, with a dense, almost syrupy finish. Excellent for Filhot. -J.S.Wine Spectator. The style of the year is in line with the style of Filhot. Good fruit acidity with a dryish finish, stylish and racy in the Filhot manner. Drink 2012-2032. (16 points) Decanter. "A slightly green streak in the gold. Nice tingle. Sweet, somehow 'liquid gold' nose. Very big and bold. But without much definition and finesse at the moment. Still, it should please people, and may not need that long to do so. Molten. Just a bit of jagged acidity at the moment" Jancis Robinson

Château Filhot:
The Château FILHOT was fonded in 1709 by Romain de FILHOT and is now owned and managed by one of his descendants: count Henri de Vaucelles. The estate covers an area of 350 hectares with 62 hectares of vineyard all along the south of the Sauternes village in the Sauternes appellation.

By far the BEST dessert wine I had come across! With a rich golden sheen, honey notes, and the level of sweetness that is heartwarming, but not too much. Could easily clear 3 bottles had it not been that I was 35000 feet above ground and did not want to get too drunk on the plane...
