Bright medium yellow. Mirabelle, marzipan, cherry-almond and vanilla on the nose. Spice and marzipan flavors show good definition and some power, but the underlying fruits are currently in the background. Finishes with some richness but only moderate length.

Pineapple skin, apple and honey on the nose. Full-bodied, very sweet and very lively, with intense acidity and a spicy aftertaste. The best in a while from this estate. Best after 2009.

Medium yellow. Fruit-driven aromas of peach, orange and candied pineapple. Juicy, spicy and firm-edged, with the pineapple flavor buttressed by lively acidity. The lingering sweetness shows good grip and focus. A good early showing for this wine.

The 1986 is the best Filhot in my memory. The light golden color is followed by a wine with a floral, pineapple, and tropical fruit-scented bouquet, medium body, as well as lovely, elegant, and brilliantly pure, botrytised, lively flavors. Just medium sweet, this wine could be served as an aperitif wine. Anticipated maturity: Now-1998.

(Barrel tasting) Gorgeous aromas of dried pineapple and apricot follow through to a full-bodied palate, with sweet fruit and a long, long finish. Best ever from here?
