Smoky nose Smooth with green pepper flavors and tobacco. Closed. Disappointing.
cassis, cedar, violet on the nose. More concentrated on the palate, Well balanced. Solidly integrated and ready for consumption. Plenty of fruit on the nose and on the palate. Finish was quite long and pleasant.
Tasted September 2009: A marvelous wine, with that tell-tale Margaux nose and flavour. Medium-deep colour which has just begun to mature, a very refined, deep and at the same time intensely perfumed bouquet. Slender, graceful in the mouth, with a very tasty dry tannic structure, excellent concentration and a long finish with lip-licking acidity. This wine is ready to drink but will keep its quality for 5-7 more years.

Opened the 1995 tonight, it started with an incredible aroma of chocolate, tabacco and potentially mushroom-- really wonderful and complex. However, the initial sip was almost tasteless, the only hint of things to come was that at the tail end it gave up some flavor. Did not decant the bottle because I did not want to quickly tire the wine, and let it sit in the bottle for about an hour. It opened up incredibly, like a new wine... always smooth and mellow, but complementing the incredible aroma and provided a long delicious finish. Excellent wine. Just treat it with respect and let it air in the bottle for an hour. I believe it should be consumed soon, not sure how much life it's got left. It's like a fiesty 90 yr old teaching you about life. Could croak any minute. I have a couple more bottles and will probably drink in the next month.
