This is amazing. Full of spicy botrytis character, with smoke and piecrust underneath. Full and rich, yet not cloying or too dense. It's lively and long, finishing with intensity and powerl. A unnerving combination of wild ripe fruit and intense botr... Wine Spectator. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2007 Yquem, Chateau d' 750ml
RP: A sample blend excluding the 7th passage (80% of the blending). The Yquem '07 was cropped at 18hl ha, reportedly similar to the 1967 in the middle of the harvest and 188 towards the later picking. This has a very concentrated nose although it is less showy at the moment. But there is tremendous power here, touches of marmalade, honey, peach and orange zest. Superb delineation. The palate is striking but its sense of urgency and nervosit, real vibrancy in the mouth even at this early stage. Pure clear honey, a touch of spice, orange cut marmalade and supreme focus on the almost Zen-like finish that will be bolstered with the later tries are added. Lovely touch of quince paste and dried lychee on the finish, which has 130gms L residual. Superb Yquem, though not in the class of the '01. Drink 2012-2050.
Mid bronzy gold. Lovely lift and complexity. Fantastic! Best wine tasted so far (all red otherwise). Great nuance and herbs and so sweet but all kept in great barley-sugar corset with leaves and refreshment on the end orange peel. Long meat and two veg and SO interesting! 18.5/20 Jancis Robinson.
This has really started to put on weight with heather and ginger notes emerging from the core of dried pineapple bergamot candied grapefruit rind and mango. Long and creamy through the very rich spicy finish with lingering golden raisin and frangipane notes. Loads of power in reserve as this sports the bold hedonistic profile of the vintage in spades. Best from 2020 through 2050. -JM Wine Spectator.
Bright golden yellow. Wonderful class and purity of aromas and flavors: pineapple peach nectar fresh apricot minerals mint estery floral oils sexy vanillin oak. Then very sweet and very pure but youthfully tight with lovely energy and fruity lift to the mid-palate. Subtle saline and mineral notes add nuance. The superb slowly mounting finish combines outstanding finesse with a subtle sense of power. I find this quite understated today partially hiding its underlying structure and racy a
Golden yellow color. Beautiful intense nose fresh pure and botrytised. It smells of peach pineapple and spices. Very lovely on entry the wine develops powerful and extremely melting. It then evolves dense with plenty of grace and stretches aromatic ethereal and subtle. This is a wine of millimeter precision not extravagant rather classic that rebounds on the finish with a great sappy length. Jean-Marc Quarin - www.quarin.com
