Member Review by jrk:

Tight at first, opened up fantastically in the glass over ~1 hour. (First tasted at Ame, San Francisco, August 2008)

Well, it's Cabernet Franc, isn't it? Red fruits are accompanied by vegetal and herbal notes in both the aroma and the palate. Decanting for an hour helps the alcohol and the odd medicinal aromas blow off, which are followed by more compelling herbal scents. Keep this for another year, or decant for 2-3 hours, or both. And if you're not a CabFranc fan, this isn't the wine for trying the varietal out. Serve with something red/green, like rosemary marinated steak or pepper steak with lots of peppers. Much better with food than without.

A more dark, earthy and rustic style of Cab Franc from over 30 years old vines. It finishes tannins that grip your mouth and shines when paired with a thick steak or wild mushrooms. We recommend giving it a decanting as well; you’ll be well rewarded with the effort.
