Chateau d'Oupia Minervois 2014

Member Review by Altboy97:

A very pleasant wine with some nice fruit, if not a lot of length. Berries, plum and a little spice. A good value, even at the $18 I spent in VA.

Refreshing rosé at its best: tangy redcurrant and bright strawberry aromas overlaid with hints of orange peel and cinnamon. It is light-bodied and linear on the palate, with excellent mineral cut. It has a very pleasing texture on the finish, the red berry notes lingering.

This wine is deceptively complex... wonderful mouth feel; fruit mixed with what I can only describe as "animal fat rubbed into wood" or "butcher block" flavors and associated aromas...delightful "old world" French wine.

the better of two rose wines we tried. Smooth finish. A little butter. I'm confused that the varietal is syrah, I thought it was supposed to be Grenache.

Substantial mouth feel, spice, dark berries, long finish. Very satisfying at this price point. Not sure what Wine Spectator was tasting.

Straightforward yet charming flavors. Dark berries, pepper, minerals, slightly sanguine and sometimes even meaty... Its just amazingly good, and it is even better two days after opening. (from: http://vindelatable.blogspot.com/2008/03/chateau-doupia-minervois-my-comfortable.html)

A deep-bodied, dry rose with great balance and rich texture. Robert Parker has consistently praised this estate and rated the wine a best buy writing, Chateau d'Oupia has produced the ideal bistro wine. Dark, ruby-colored, the wine is wonderfully clean and pure, with an exuberant personality, and gobs of rich, peppery, red and black fruit.

In addition to flavorful southern French reds, André Iché's Château d'Oupia produces this fresh, lively Minervois Rosé that delivers a refreshing mouthful of strawberry fruit. Serve it chilled with Mediterranean-style seafood dishes.

An aromatic and densely colored red wine, full-bodied with generous blackberry and raspberry flavors. Fine tannins, along with accents of pepper and spice, make this an elegant and well-balanced wine.

This medium-bodied rose is bright, fresh and clean with notes of strawberry, almond and rose petal. It has a balanced minerality and depth. The perfect refresher for a warm day.

Muscular and full-flavored, with a meaty aroma and an intense array of blackberry and olive flavors. Filled to the brim with mocha and espresso notes. There's a touch of elegance to it as well, with fine-grained tannins on the finish. Needs time. Best from 2006 through 2009.

Wine Tasting NotesVery dark reddish-purple, almost black. Delicate plums and fragrant black pepper. Mouth-filling, chewy black fruit and pepper, crisp acidity and drying tannins.

Minervois, a region in the western Languedoc-Rousillon, produces lush, drinkable wines using Rhône varietals. This wine is aromatic, full and densely colored, with a long finish of dark fruits. Enjoy this crowd-pleaser with chili, hamburgers or grilled pork or lamb chops.
