Chateau Doisy-Vedrines Sauternes 2007

Richly layered and detailed, but thoroughly mouthwatering, this lets lacy citrus, floral ... Best from 2015 through 2032. -JM
We discovered this particular dessert wine through one of our Total Wines and More classes last year. Not being fans of sweet or in our minds “dessert” wines we were quickly impressed by this one in particular and its subtlety. A blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon with hints of honeysuckle, lychee and pear on the nose. The same on the tongue, as well as an undertone of honey as it warms. It is truly elegant and builds on your palate nicely. The average price for a 375ml bottle runs just under $30.00. For us not an everyday dessert wine [Is there such a thing? I am sure there is for some..] but a great treat for special occasions and to share with wine loving friends. Salud! whineandcheersforwine.wordpress.com
Four and a half glasses
TN: Ch. Doisy-Védrines [Barsac] Sauternes-Barsac 2003; 14 pabv; Atherton Wine Imports; San Jose, CA. $25/375 ml; WineBid. From a half-bottle. Polished refractive gold. Cotton candy, wax, slightly floral; a touch of vanilla, wood, balsamico, and sea air in the empty glass.Opens slightly citric-bitter with some delicacy coming later; light-to-medium-bodied but rates only moderate on the finesse scale (hot vintage?). Sweet-tart balance to the sweet side; energetic; minty finish.Only a little new wood in evidence today, but obviously a sémillon-dominated wine, as usual. This will need about 8-10 more years to settle down.90 today, 92/100 predicted for it eventually, as this is showing quality in reserve.
Awesome. 2006 vintage.
Another good choice as dessert wine, recommended

A bright, almost chiseled style, offering fresh-cut pineapple, quince and candied Meyer lemon flavors, with a long, floral-filled finish. Seriously long, with lovely lacy detail already showing on the finish. Should be long-lived.-J.M. Wine Spectator. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Doisy-Vedrines 3000ml

Reveals a nose with aromas of fruit and honey. This is a classic wine, powerful and ample.
Thick and spicy with unctuous still slightly raw-seeming layers of apricot peach and fig. Ginger cream and green tea check in on the finish. Rather backward still but there s lots balled up. -J.M. Wine Spectator.
