Château Doisy-Daëne Bordeaux White 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"Denis Dubourdieu’s Barsac cru has an attractive bouquet with subtle notes of cooking apple, pear and lime-flower, all with very fine delineation. The palate displays good weight and a fine thread of acidity, lending tension and poise that leads to a taut finish, showing good botrytis levels for the vintage. With its trademark minerality in place, this Doisy-Daene comes highly recommended....92-94" WA 05/11 "This has power in reserve, but relies more on its acidity, with juicy tangerine, clementine, pear and mango notes laced with a hint of green almond. The finish is long, pure and fresh....92-95 (BT)" WS Web Only 2011 "Elegant nose with sweet white peach, strawberry and vanilla. Medium sweet on the palate with a lovely pure fruit and fine texture. This Barsac is super charming and well balanced. Very spicy on the finish showing wonderful botrytis intensity. Drink now or hold. ...95" JameSuckling.com 02/13

Château Doisy-Daëne:
Château Doisy-Daëne, a second classified growth in 1855, has been in the Dubourdieu family since 1924. Three generations of passionate wine growers have worked here from father to son. Georges bought the property and increased its reputation due to the legendary vintages until 1945. Pierre, the creator of great wines for more than fifty years, modernised and enhanced Doisy-Daëne. Denis, who is both professor at Bordeaux's Faculty of Oenology and a well-known Oenology Consultant, succeeded him from the 2000 vintage. The expression of great calcareous terroir and of a truly aesthetical family tradition, the style of Doisy-Daëne associates richness and freshness. It privileges the burst of the fruit, concentrated by "the noble rot", the raciness, the balance and the finesse. Doisy-Daëne also produces, since the beginning of the 1950s a great dry white wine, distinguished and very original. Read less

With 12.2% alcohol and 212 gms residual sugar, the L'Extravagant de Doisy-Daene consists of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillion. Offers lots of sweet botrytis character, with graham, heather honey, fig and glazed pear notes, followed by an unctuous finish. Mouthfilling, with some serious power in reserve. Still evolving, with lime, verbena and honeysuckle notes and a flash of melon rind on the finish. More backward than most, but shows clear potential. Score range: 89-92 -JM Wine Spectator. A Bordeaux Blanc wine from Bordeaux in France. 2010 Doisy Daene Blanc Sec 750ml

87% semillon, 13% sauvignon blanc. 33% new oak. Planted to clay-limestone soil. Super bright and fresh, the nose exhibits aromas of lemon and orange peel, intermixed with tropical fruit, followed by botrytis spice and toasted coconut. Very rich and f... Geoffrey Binder.
