Needed something to suit the day - jejune (given the vintage) yet hedonic (given the property's reputation) so chose this wine from my personal stash. Actually, the wine is better than expected - the third growth status notwithstanding. The nose (even when pressed through the vinturi) is sour cherry and not especially inviting. The colour is good - deep red - and on entry there is some tannin (light and properly silky) and a slightly sour cherry cola on the mid-palate. No core and no depth, but a very tasty, balanced, easy-drinking Bordeaux - but no use cellaring. 87 points.

\ A light to medium-bodied, pretty, but slightly austere wine, this dark ruby-hued 2007 reveals spicy berry fruit and tobacco leaf notes, and a soft, round style. Consume it over the next 7-10 years.\

Winemaker's Notes:

Dark red and intense color. Fruity nose of average aromatic intensity. Suave on entry, the wine develops smooth with taste and a lovely sense of caressing the palate. Despite not having a powerful body, it shows no weakness whatsoever. With fine-grained tannins, this estate shows consistency in its expression. This is Chateau d'Issan!
