Château Dillon Red Bordeaux Blend Haut-Médoc 1995

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from a wine merchant in Sussex for £10.Chateau Dillon [www.chateau-dillon.com] was originally built in the 17th century but aquired its name when an Irishman called Robert Dillon bought it in 1754 although he left at the time of the French revolution. From 1923 the grounds were rented by the French Ministry of Agriculture and they bought the chateau and grounds in 1956 and it is now a School of Viticulture. It is located in the commune of Blanquefort just north of Bordeaux itself,There are now 38 hectares under vine. The wine consists of 48% cabernet sauvignon,48%merlot,2% cabernet franc,1% carmenere and 1% petit verdot and is aged in oak barrels.I opened my bottle the other day to accompany my supper of roast pork and I enjoyed itThere is plenty of fruit there and the tannins are fairly soft.Overall I would say this is a nice botrtle of wine. .
