Château d'Escurac Cru Bourgeois Supérieur Mc Premières Côtes de Bordeaux 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

These are the three characteristics of Sigalas Rabaud. predominantly floral, with notes of lime blossom, ther are also aromas of white fruit, peach, apricot, pear and citrus; its freshness, resulting from the high proportion of sauvignon in the vins et its solid structure, the producte of tehe trrroir and the Semillon grapes, give the wines a balance and length that have led to their being descripted by the most respected tasters as "mythical". Its said also to be a "feminine "wines. Aficionados call it the "most Barsac of the Sauternes"

Chateau I'Arrosee has a character with two clearly defined special features. Firstly, the domain is unusual in having two types of land. Part of the vineyard is planted on the sheltered slope to the south west of Saint-Emilion and has the maximum exposure to the sun. This situation is ideal for helping to ensure that the grapes are perfectly mature when they are harvested and the chalky clay soil provides a balanced supply of water and minerals for the vines. The other part of the vineyard lies at the foot of the slope where it is hotter. Having the two types of soil increases the chances of obtaining a very good grape compared with a land with a single type of soil. Another particularity is that the merlot grape variety is blended with 20% cabernet franc and. unusually. 20% cabernet sauvignon. Cabernet sauvignon. the great vine of the Medoc region, is not usually planted on clay soils but grows easily here where it is exposed to full sun. Read less

RP: Somewhat reminiscent of a Burgundy, the deep ruby purple-tinged 2005 offers up sweet raspberry and forest floor characteristics along with a hint of toasty oak. It hits the palate with beautiful finesse, elegance, and sweetness. Medium to full-bodied with loads of black currant and raspberry fruit, substantial but sweet tannin, zesty acidity, and a long finish, this beauty is filled with purity, symmetry, and balance. It should hit its plateau of maturity in 7-8 years, and last for three decades.
