Chateau d'Esclans Cotes de Provence Whispering Angel Rose 2009

Member Review by dynowine:

Lighter rose that leans to the white fruit side of the spectrum, with mild aromas of white nectarine, peach, hints of white floral. Tastes of similar. Off dry. Body light to medium, acid medium minus. Goes great with green olives. 73% grenache, 8% syrah, remainder mourvedre, cinsauult, rolle.

Tasted at a hotel bar, served too cold (40 deg F), was a bit better warmed to around 55 deg F or so. Lighter rose on the white fruit side of the rose spectrum. Light nose with hints of berry-citrus-white peach. In the mouth light but firm fruit (light berries, white stone fruit) that transition to a slightly steely grippy dry mineral taste followed by a warm finish with a mild acid uplift at the end. As it warmed presented more bubble gum and banana flavor wrapped in dry light berry-peach and steel. Off dry. Body light to medium, acid medium minus. Pretty tasty, well-balanced, and interesting for a rose with decent QPR at USD18.

(unlike the rest of this line-up, this saw no oak) Pale peach skin color. Reticent aromas of orange zest, herbs and honeysuckle are energized by white pepper. Dry and nervy, offering dusty citrus and berry skin flavors but not the round, velvety text... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Proprietary Blend wine from Provence in France. 2009 Chateau D'Esclans Whispering Angel Rose 750ml
