Chateau des Tours Vacqueyras 2006

Member Review by wynkop:

NO DATE 3/5/2011 - WINEJNKY WROTE: 88 Points Drank with wine group. Second place among 4 CdR. Strong nose, slightly barnyard, but inviting. Well balanced with good fruit and a nice body, spicy finish. 2/4/2011 - ANONYMOUS WROTE: 87 Points Very light colored. Strawberries in the bouquet. Very juicy, fruity and supple in the mouth. Rose hips, a small dose of herbs and spices, pepper and laurel. Soft and easy going tannin. Just a little bitterness in the finish. Harmonious and elegant, but no real complexity. Very pleasant wine though.

Chateau des Tours has been producing particularly fine wines of late. This vintage takes full advantage of their 40-year-old vines. Direct and full on the nose with classic notes of violets, black cherry, and moist earth. The slightly solid structure of the vintage supports crisp red berry flavors in the mouth, with a touch of fresh herbs. Lovely now but will improve with short-term aging.

Chateau des Tours has been producing particularly fine wines of late. Their 2005 takes full advantage both of the vintage and of their 40-year-old vines. Direct and full on the nose with classic notes of violets, black cherry, and moist earth.
