Dense color. Dense and intensely fragrant aromas, with syrah-like qualities. Roasted meat jus, flinty graphite minerality. It's full and mouth coating and rich with flavors of violets and blue and purple berry. Wet stone. Some savory herbs. Very interesting. 11/19/11

WA (89-90+)pts - Winemaker Notes - With a deep sherry colour, with walnut and little red fruits aromas, this wine has silky tannins that will help it to age. It will be a perfect partner for charcuteries , Italian foods, red and white meats when young. Getting older, it will be perfect with game game meat.

Bright ruby. High-pitched aromas of red berries, spicecake and herbs, plus a hint of cracked pepper. Spicy, incisive red fruit flavors show a bitter edge and pick up a smoky quality in the mid-palate. Tannins build with air and add definition to the firm, spicy, very persistent finish. This wine will age.

Red raspberry, rhubarb, and smoked meat pungently scent Chateau des Jacques’s 2009 Morgon cuvee, then come to a saliva-inducing and tartly-invigorating palate — one of this estate’s 2009 that seems to defy the vintage norms — leading to a vivacious finish in which white pepper, salt, smoked meat, and herbs alternate with sappy, snappy red fruits. There is a hint of extraneous wood resin that needs to integrate, and this is one 2009 that could benefit from putting on a bit of fat — which might happen — but is already a delight and sure to remain so for at least 3–4 years

Rich flavors of blackberry pie, apple compote and cherry preserves are accented by anise, nutmeg and vanilla. Bright acidity keeps it fresh, while light tannins frame this balanced red. Drink now through 2015.
