Chateau Dereszla Tokaji Aszú 6 Puttonyos 2006
This wine is a blend of 6 Puttonoyos (330 Pounds) of Aszù grapes with 136 liters of basic wine. Aszù grapes are late-harvested and botrytized, so the sugar concentration remains very high. Aszù grapes macerate with fermenting must for 14 hours. The second fermentation is done in stainless steel tanks, where it is matured for two months.
This tightly wound and focused sweetie offers intense acidity harnessing ... Drink now through 2035. -NW
The year 2000 was one of the best harvest for the Tokaji Aszu wines. Long summer and moist fogy fall was perfect condition for the Bortrytis. (Noble Rot) This vintage will be remembered. The color is Liquid Gold and the nose like an orchard of orange blossoms and a touch of sweet Bortrytis. The aromas and flavors of honey and orange enrobe the palate in perfect harmony. Long languid finish with elegant complexity.
Way too acidic and sweet. Not my kind of wine. I like the golden yellow/brown colour though.

Chateau Dereszla, dating to the early 15th century, was purchased in 2000 by Champagne's d'Aulan family, who completed extensive renovations in 2007. A blend of 70 percent Furmint and 30 percent Hárselevelü, the aszú (dried) berries were macerated with fermenting must for 14 hours before a two-month secondary fermentation in stainless steel. The wine aged two years in oak barrels and a year in bottle. It's a well-balanced sweetie at a value price. 1,428 cases made.
Ripe, intense and dynamic, with juicy layers of sweet pineapple, apricot and mango puree. Generous yet tightly focused, with an abundance of vanilla bean, mace and other exotic spices that emerge on the long finish. Drink now through 2027.
This tightly wound and focused sweetie offers intense acidity harnessing layers of apricot coulis, golden raisin, mango and passion fruit puree. It's all about the fruit now, with grace notes of spice and chalk accenting the finish. This should develop nicely over time. Drink now through 2035.
