hint of fresh flowers!, rich and silky~!
If you like a lighter bodied red with bright red fruit flavors, you will like this wine. Personally, I prefer more body and complexity, especially at this price ($27).
Our bottle at a Vancouver rest was $78. The wine is pleasant but not full bodied and the fruit is very subtle.
2008 Vintage. I think this wine will be better in about 1 year
Love this wine!!! One of the best I ever taste
External Reviews for Château de Villeneuve Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes
This wine from Corbières is crammed with sweet red berry fruits made interesting by a hint of funk. While deeply colored, the wine is light-handed with body and texture reminiscent of Beaujolais, which makes sense because the vigneron, a young man named Maxime Magnon, studied with Foillard, one of the great Morgon winemakers. Thought the wine is from Corbières, it cannot be labeled as such because the grapes don't align with Corbières appellation laws.
The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape s dense ruby/purple color is followed by a bouquet of charcoal, framboise, black raspberries, and a hint of spring flowers. It is a rich, full-bodied, concentrated effort with silky tannins and good acidity. -Wine Advocate
