Château de Tiregand Pécharmant 2015

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £12 from a shop in London's Kensington [www.nicolas.com]. Pecharmant, which roughly translates as 'charming hill'is an appellation created in 1946,although there has been viticulture here for centuries, for red wines made of the same varieties as in Bordeaux, from 4 communes just north of the town of Bergerac. My bottle comes from a well-known producer in the area, consists of 54% merlot,23% cabernet sauvignon,18% cabernet franc and 5% malbec, and was aged in oak barrels for 12 months.I started the bottle last night with my supper of roast pork and I was impressed. It is a full-bodied wine with plenty of a blackcurrant, plum and black cherry style fruit,it is beautifully structured, yet the soft tannins make it so easy drinking.I am not the only one to be impressed by this wine because it got a silver medal at the 2016 Concours de Bordeaux
