Chateau de Selle Coeur de Grain Rose Cotes de Provence Grand Cru Domaines Ott 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Domaines Ott was founded in 1912 by Marcel Ott, an agricultural engineer from Alsace who dreamed of establishing a great wine estate near the Mediterranean. Today the wineries are owned and managed by Champagne Louis Roederer and produce some of the world’s most prestigious wines. These wines are made at three distinctively different estates in the Bandol and Côtes de Provence appellations. Domaine Otts Rosé wines have a reputation of being 'the finest rosés in the world'. The De Selle winery is located on a former dwelling of the Counts of Provence, a superb 18th century country house in Provence and the über rare Clos Mireille is in La Londe, bordering the sea, not far from Fort de Brégançon in the Côtes de Provence Appellation. The rose is a wonderful pale orangey pink with golden highlights. On the nose it has fine, floral aromas opening up onto white-fleshed fruit such as peach. The palate does not disappoint, it is plump and rich, finishing on notes of citrus fruit and spices. It is the perfect accompanyment to a relaxed summer drink in the garden, on a picnic or at the beach.

Ott, an Alsatian agricultural engineer with a pioneer spirit, set out to create a wine-producing estate. First attempts : in the region of Cavalaire. It was in 1912, however, at Château de Selle, Le Clos Mireille, and later at Château Romassan, also located in the Var, that this great family adventure was ultimately launched. Long years of patience and effort ! Each estate won over the rocky land. The cultivation principles, inspired by profound respect for nature, are unbending. Fortunately, the land is grateful and gas rewarded this respect by giving birth to outstanding quality wines. As early as 1930, the "Coeur de Grain" rosé made its way over the border. And today, the elegant, prestigious vintages produced by Domaines Ott* can be found in the finest dining establishments the world over. In 2004, with more as 100 years of experience, Domaines Ott* got wedding band with Champagne Louis Roederer Group A true synergy takes place around these craftsmen of high-class wines. Read less

This is a classic and classy Provençal rosé: dry with light berry fruit and a clean, fresh finish. Perfectly elegant alone, but it fits seamlessly into a light meal of salad and white fish.

Vegetal, fruity, and spicy with broom, apricot, and grapefruit.
