Château de Seguin Red Bordeaux Blend Bordeaux Supérieur 2008

Member Review by Kyle Graynor:

Black raspberry on the nose initially, followed by maybe a little horse (though it didn't smell bad). Very mellow, not hot at all. Tannins sneak up at the end, but it's more of a pleasant surprise, and they aren't very strong. A bit of sweetness, but I wouldn't call it a very sweet wine.

In 1985 Erling Carl, who was the founder of the Danish wine company CHRIS-WINE A/S, discovered Château de Seguin, thanks to the help from his friend Mr. Anthony Barton, the owner of Château Léoville-Barton and Château Langoa-Barton. Erling Carl bought the Château with adjoining 20 hectares of vines. He decided to renovate the entire estate, but first he introduced the first vintage, the 1986, which was an excellent vintage - then the renovation of Château itself began, followed by the vineyards, the vinification areas etc. The efforts of Erling Carl immediately paid off. After his death in 1991, his two sons Michael and Gert Carl took over the management of the estate. Today Château de Seguin is a renowned and modern wine producer. It controls 135 of hectares of vineyards in the Entre-Deux-Mers region in Bordeaux. Read less

Full, earthy with a slight tanic finish. Great alone or with meal. $10 TJ

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Deep and ripe red/black/blue fruit medley with flint and charred earth. Good and savory. Palate: Fuller to full body, with medium fine and chalkier tannin, great acidity and some more savory leather and meaty rhubarb to balance the ripe and darker red and black fruit. Flint into the lightly toasted and more savory finish.
