What to Expect

Syrah: One of the few grapes to really be a global success. Syrah combines a meaty core of ripe berry fruit with tones that range from herbal to peppery in a package that tends to be medium bodied with good acidity and softer tannins. With age the wines can gain lovely leathery and black olive notes that make them a great match for savory and gamy dishes.

Rating: 92/100 - As reviewed by The Wine Messenger Château de Pourcieux has produced two very popular wines, their rose is a perennial best seller, and this hearty, flavorful red blend. Their red wine is a blend of Syrah (50%), Grenache (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) that aged for 2 years in oak. This wine has a pretty garnet color and an expressive nose of earth, dark berries, wild herbs and game. On the palate, the dark cherry and plum fruit attack is supple and smooth with well-integrated tannins before a spicy, dark fruit finish. A hearty red wine, this blend is ideal with barbecue, grilled meats, chicken, game, and strong cheeses. Drink read more...
