Château de Pennautier is a wine estate in the village of that name just north of Carcasonne in the south of France that has been in the Pennautier family since 1620. It is now managed by 10th generation winemakers Nicolas and Miren de Lorgeril. The grapes are grown on the sunny hillsides of the Cabardès at 700 - 1000 ft above sea level, with views of the Pyrenees, Massif Central and the Medieval town of Carcassonne. The wines are produced as traditional regional reds, whites, rosés and a late harvest dessert wine in the Alsace style. The main grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Grenache, Malbec (Cot), Cabernet Franc and Cinsault for reds. Whites are produced from Chardonnay, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, Roussane and Sauvignon Blanc. These are released as blends as well as single varietal styles. There are total of 146 hectares under vine.
