69% Semillon, 28% Sauvignon Blanc, 3% Muscadelle. 30% new french oak, and aged for 20-24 months in barrel. Loads of citrus, creme brulee, vanilla and toast. This is sweet but balanced with great acid, spicy botrytis and a delicate focused finish. Geoffrey Binder. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2009 Chateau de Malle 375ml

Very clean aromas of caramel, vanilla and ripe pear. Full-bodied, medium sweet, with dried pineapple character and a light finish. Slightly hollow midpalate. Not as exciting as from barrel, but a pleasant wine. Best after 2006.

[Barrel tasting] Lemon aromas of surprising intensity allow this wine to stand out from the crowd. But they also give it a dry, firm feel with acidity more dominant than sweetness.
