If you’re a fan of the heavily oaked, buttery Chardonnay style, white Burgundy is probably not for you. Winemaker Jean-Paul Durup says this fine wine is “like a Chassagne-Montrachet, but without the oak.” Maligny has a very limited availability, so it would be wise to grab a case as soon as possible. Grapefruit and pear flavors on the palate complement a bright acidity. The finish is minerally, slightly grassy and very clean. Try this wine with stronger fish in buttery sauce, or with spicy food.
This delightful Chablis is golden in color, smooth rather than tangy, with hints of lemon, apples and just a bit of nuts. This is an ’06 that has shed the tropical notes of its youth and has taken on a texture of a somewhat polished, rounded exterior, all the while giving off pure Chablis nuances. Fairly opulent and ripe, this seduces with its supple texture and clean flavors. Medium-bodied, it kicks in with mineral, chalk and flint notes on the lingering finish. Pair this with Oysters Rockefeller or pan seared scallops.
This Chablis coats the palate with waves of complex flavors, including butter, lemon and spice. Ripe and elegant with a chewy earthy finish; this 1er Cru vineyard produces excellent fruit that is easily seen throughout this wine.
