Château de Lascaux Coteaux du Languedoc Rosé 2009

Member Review by dynowine:

Reminded me of the taste and density of finer peach-colored champagnes, but without the bubbles. As tested faint aroma on opening and after a day vacu-corked in the fridge. Quite light in the mouth, light tastes of orange and berry cream and hint of white peach. Initially a leaned to the sweet but became non-sweet after a few hours Short finish. Acid medium or less, Body medium plus, not slick in the mouth. Off-dry. I had hoped for more complexity and "punch" given use of four rhone varietals. Probably would please the light wine crowd. 13.5% abv.

The vineyards of Château de Lascaux family origin. About twenty hectares in 1984, when I took them for, it now covers nearly 85 hectares of vineyards surrounded by 300 hectares of scrubland. The vineyard is fully integrated with the natural environment rich in biodiversity protection and giving it incredible diversity of expression. All this gives the quality and originality are and have always made the reputation of the Château de Lascaux, which have propelled him to the rank of the inevitable reference Pic Saint Loup Languedoc. The place, wild and sometimes austere, we leave filled with great serenity and dazzles us with the beauty of nature imbued with a certain mystery. The Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre with a little Cinsault, Mediterranean varieties of choice, are rigorously established in our different terroirs. They must reveal scents, flavors and freshness are the hallmarks of wines of Château de Lascaux. Our business is guided by the winemaker's experience, the work of the vineyard fascinates us, it is the essence of our expertise: tillage, short waist, tying thorough, fair treatment necessary. Organic farming has only formalize our practices and our aspirations. Read less
