Chateau de Lancyre Pic St. Loup Rouge Vieilles Vignes 2007

Winemaker's Notes:

This is a blend of 65% Syrah and 35% Grenache, the age of the vines in question
bring over 30 years, so certainly middle-aged if not actually old! The wine is
concentrated and sweet, with notes of thyme and bay complementing the abundance
of fruit, which is dominated by plums and cherries. There is a smoky back-drop
and firm, refreshing acidity. An impressive effort which will go extremely well
with braised hare, partridge or wild boar, as well as a panoply of less
ambitious dishes!
(Simon Field MW, BBR Buyer)
