Languedoc, FranceChateau de Flaugergues Cuvee Sommeliere may be a tongue-twister but it's also a beautiful red wine gem! This rich red blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre comes from the Gres de Montpellier sub-region of Languedoc, referring to the distinctive round pebbles of this terroir near the town of Montpellier. Situated on a hillside, the Mediterranean climate guarantees early ripening of grapes and a delicate aromatic finesse. The 2007 vintage was #50 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 Wines for 2010 with a 91-point rating! Chateau de Flaugergues Cuvee Sommeliere is dark ruby red in color with a gorgeous nose of blackberries, cassis, olives, leather, garrigue and spice. Full-bodied with a velvety texture and lively tannins, it is opulent and well structured on the palate and beautifully balanced to enjoy over the next 4-6 years. This red offers a seductive, lingering finish with hints of licorice and laurel. Enjoy Chateau de Flaugergues Cuvee Sommeliere as an ideal accompaniment to roast leg of lamb, skirt steak, daube provencal and grilled vegetables.

This robust red from Southern France has been a consistent value for several vintages. A blend of Syrah and Mourvedre with a dash of Grenache this is cheaper than a Crozes-Hermitage and it might just fool your palate into believing it is from our friends in the Northern Rhône. You’ll find lovely flavors of dark berries complemented by hints of bacon olives and mushroom. Mmm... sounds like a good topping to a burger. So naturally this wine will pair well with a burger from your grill no matter what the topping.

Winemaker's Notes:

Dark red color. Beautiful rich and complex smell with a Mediterranean scent. Generous and well structured wine with strong tannins and a long persistence, hints of liquorice and bay leaf.
