Château de Charron Bordeaux 2008

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

While the press is already heralding the 2009 vintage as the next ldquo;vintage of the century, rdquo; the fine 2008 vintage has gone largely ignored. The benefit to the consumer is that the wine is still tasty and relatively cheap! The 2008 Chateau du Charron is an example of such a bargain in this vintage. The wine has an intriguing nose of strawberry tart with a hint of green bean. Flavors of fresh strawberry, tomato leaf, and a hint of leather and spice round out this winersquo;s light-to-medium bodied personality. Drink up!

Gold medal winner. Supple and elegant, thanks to its mostly Merlot content. Lots of blackberry and blueberry fruit with raisins in the back end. The finish is satisfying and rather long with notes of vanilla and new oak. Works well with lamb, veal, pork and sushi grade tuna pan seared and served with wasabi-infused mashed potatoes.
