- Due to its deep colour, Cahors red wine has for over a century been called the 'black wine'. Based upon the inky dark colour, this 2002 vintage definitely lives up to the reputation. It doesn't stop there, though, as the intense aromas of blackberry, cassis, cocoa bean and iodine, plus the concentrated, firm/grippy flavours confirm that this is a Malbec to reckon with. Give it at least three years in a cellar to be truly rewarded. (VINTAGES panel, June 2005)
