The Château Cabriac is found in Corbières facing the Black mountain, in the foothills of the Cevennes. Surrounded by pine trees and bathed in the fragrances of resin and the neighbouring garrigue, echoing with the sounds of the crickets and dazzled by the intensity of the colours, struck by the size of the moutains - a place of remarkable natural beauty. The origins of the domaine go back to the Roman era. In the 12th century the Templars founded a priory there dedicated to Saint Martin, whose ruins can still be found today. In the Revolution, the château was seen as "church goods" and sold to the Berlioz family, who have also owned part of the abbey of Lagrasse from the same period. The Marquise of Puivert, the last member of the Berlioz family, left the château to her nephews, the Cibeins, in 1945. Jean de Cibeins, the current owner, along with his wife Michèle, is the latest link in the chain to take over the running of the estate. They both have made it a point of honour to cultivate and produce their vines in a sustainable manner in order to protect the surrounding environment. Read less

Dense, semi opaque purple coloration with brown hues around the rim. Meaty aromas primarily, tons of dark berry, booze, hints of raw coffee bean and herbal/grassy notes. Flavors that are fleshy, medicinal Earthy/herbal notes, tea leaf astringency, and a medium body. Smooth finish and on the palate, the alcohol is well hidden and after the swallow, huge dryness and black currant lingers.

Tasting Notes:

Intense robe, exuberant nose of black fruit. The mouth is full, round, fruity, with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry, coffee. A character attack into the mouth, some flesh, the continuation is dense and powerful. A nice syrah-grenache balance. A lot of pleasure.
