Chateau de Cabidos Syrah de Cabidos 2015

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine for £12 from a shop in North London [www.theatreofwine.co.uk] It is from the south-west of France,a Vin de Pays or Indication Geographique Protogee as they are now called,de Comte Tolosan,so it does not have appellation status. It was made at Chateau de Cabidos a small estate just north of the town of Pau and is of the syrah grape.I started it last night with my supper of beef stew.It is a full-bodied wine with plenty of a blackberry ,bramble and blackcherry style fruit and a distinct taste of pepper or spice, especially on the finish, with soft but well structured tannins. In short, this is a superb example of what a good syrah should be and one which would hold its own against any of the better northern Rhones
