Deep purple color. Not heavily fragrant, but there are detectable notes of cherry and a definite oakiness. Flavor is herbaceous and clean with strong tannins. Earthy, cherry finish, though brief. After a bit of breathing, the tannins calmed down, and the berry aroma and tart fruitiness came out. Could use a few more years of aging.
I originally bought two bottles of the 2005 a few years ago, during a "Buy One Get one for $0.05 Sale" at Beverages n More. The price was something ridiculously low ($10 or less) for a Bordeaux... I bought the two bottles as an adventure and as an experiment, not as a wine to pop open on my 15th anniversary. I popped open one bottle the day I bought it... Horrible. Tasted like cheap young wine, mixed with petrol soaked rocks. Just popped open my 2nd bottle this afternoon, and it has improved tremendously. The wine will never win any awards, but is drinkable now. If you own this wine, you could probably sit on it for another 1-1 1/2 years. Two years might be pushing it. I could see pairing it with a pork roast....
