Château de Bonhoste Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend Bordeaux Contrôlée 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Lovely fresh, dense, clear ruby colour. The nose is characterized by acidulous, fresh red fruit, with chalky notes. Full bodies and refined in the mouth, well rounded and a little acidulous, with a pleasant persistent fruity aftertaste. Planted on the slopes of the southern bank of the Dordogne River, the vineyards here see traditional viticulture, including "la lutte raisonée", or "the reasoned struggle", a practice that is very close to chemical-free organic farming.

Had a bottle at Jojo, one of Manhattan's finest dining establishments, where it cost $32 and where they make sure to select good wines to go with the superb cuisine. I would say $12 for a bottle of this is a bargain. I may have been influenced by the delicious salmon dinner I had it with, but I liked this just fine. Light and refreshing, with a bit of lemon and grassy bitterness. It gets a bit bitter as it warms, but this still struck me as a very nice, reasonably priced summer wine

Light, crisp, and clean, showing an impressive balance of fruit flavor. This is a great white for sipping with any light cuisine; it goes especially well with fish. Great for parties!
