Editorial Reviews for Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc
This is such a change of speeds with it's classic mourvedre notes of leather, earth, and roast meat adding complexity and depth to the very sweet herbal fruit that recalls dried tomato and, strawberry jam, and bramble. This is positively mouthfilling and has gained considerable weight over the past few years. there is a great core of cherry fruit and a wonderfully intense level of spice that leads to a long finish. Certainly lean and cool for Beaucastel but that is how I prefer them anyway, trading some of the ripeness for this level of freshness and detail. 2008-2018
This bottle underperformed. Typical leathery notes on the nose with notes of spice and anise but only hinting at the dark, slightly jammy fruits that should be popping here. In the mouth this had good structure and nicely resolved at that but the flavors were washed out and there was just not enough weight here. Probably some early heat damage here but at least the structure was in balance boding well for better bottles to come.

The 1995 remains tight, backward, and far less evolved than the 1998. The dense inky purple color is accompanied by a floral, blueberry, mineral, and licorice-dominated bouquet. Huge and formidably endowed, but closed, tannic, and backward, it will b... Robert Parker. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 1995 Beaucastel, Chateau Chateauneuf du Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin 750ml
Still closed and tannic the 1995 requires an additional 5-6 years of cellaring. It should keep well through 2020. Robert Parkers Wine Advocate.
This rich red still shows the backward intensity of youth, with a dark color and initially reductive aromas. But be patient--behind the firm tannins there's a core of ripe, rich plum, with notes of game, herb and mineral that promise complexity with ... Wine Spectator.
