Nice garnett color. Intense rich nose with slight petrol notes. Smooth start in the mouth, finish is a little tight. Still a little young, although OK if you decant. Medium bodied with cardamom, olive notes.
I am drinking the 2004 vintage at this very moment. Either the 2003 is much better or people are being conned. The 2004 is perfectly smooth and drinkable with a pleasant touch of oaky vanilla but about the same amount of flavour as a half-decent red Chilean costing £5-6 like Isla Negra Cabernet Sauvingnon or Errazuriz Shiraz. I cannot see how anyone can justify charging such high prices for run-of-the-mill Bordeaux reds like this one. Like most French wines it is dreadfully over priced.
I'll always credit this one for making me a lover of wine. Family in France had several cases in the cellar, and we drank all throughout 1997-1998.
