The fine wines from Chateau Coutet are concentrated and sweet with high levels of acidity to balance out the sweetness. While the wines are delicious when young, the true nature of an excellent Barsac like Chateau Coutet is only shown when the wines have many years of bottle age. These wines gain complexity and a lushness after a good vintage is stored for a decade or so. Coutet is especially known for the complex aromas it develops. It is important that storage conditions be proper for the life of the wine. Chateau Coutet is known for producing a very elegant and stylish dessert wine. It is rich and full bodied and has the aromas and flavors of stone fruits like peaches when young. The flavors of the young wine develop into a complex fabric of vanilla, honey and cinnamon after years of age. Recent vintages have shown very strong results. Read less

This delicious desert wine is a deep golden color. The bouquet has floral notes, along with a strong honey and oak. The mouthfeel is very heavy, almost the consistency of honey. To go along with that, the flavor profile was strongly honey-centered, with other notes of sour apple and tartness. It has a very long, enjoyable finish.

This massively structured yet focused Sauternes shows a pale golden color with absolutely brilliant clarity. Lovely tropical nose complete with guava pineapple and golden raisin. Fat and rich in the mid-palate yet remains subtle and well focused throughout. Lively apricot laden finish. This is delicious stuff. Alex Lallos.

Offers fascinating aromas of cooked apple, clove and honey that follow through to a full body, with superlively acidity and spicy blanched almond and honey character on the palate. Long and powerful, showing amazing botrytis character, with so much spice and richness, yet also freshness. Even better than the superb 2006. Best after 2015.

A fresh, lively, zest nose with touches of honey, frangipane and mango. The palate is very fresh and well-defined, viscous honeyed fruits, vibrant acidity and so much freshness on the finish. Harmonious and sophisticated, this is a lovely Coutet with... Robert Parker. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2007 Coutet 750ml

Medium yellow-gold. Restrained aromas of peach and spices offer good lift. Very ripe and thick, with strong acidity leavening the fruit salad flavors. Finishes with a strong, saline impression of extract and excellent persistence.

The aromas are intensely sweet full of orange marmalade and honey. The palate goes more for spice with oranges and brown sugar allied to fresh fruits apricots and lychees. The final flavors are delicious and enticing. Wine Enthusiast.
