It is against my better judgment to taste the sweet wines of Barsac and Sauternes at such an early age, as I find they typically require at least 12 months to reveal the definition/delineation so essential in these creamy, creme brulee, and honeysuck... Robert Parker. A Sauternes Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2003 Coutet 750ml

This superb estate covers 95 acres planted with 75% Semillon, 23% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% of the often overlooked Muscadelle. Soils are red-toned clay along with parcels of gravel over limestone. Picking is done, often over several weeks, by successive passes or tris, which are essential to obtain berries with the right degree of noble rot. After multiple pressings in a vertical basket press and a cold settling to remove the lees or deposits, the juice is fermented in all-new barrels. Aging occurs over 18 months. The 2003 Coutet is an outstanding example of Barsac which offers a multidimensional profile and supreme elegance. Robert Parker 93.
