Château Cos Labory Red Bordeaux Blend St. Estèphe 2011

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

Very oaky, smoky, dried tomato, menthol, licorice, a touch pruny with cocoa notes – sweet, really sweet like pastry glaze, soft and weighty in the mouth, has plenty of rich fruit but too much extracted, dry tannin too, lots of depth to the honey and cocoa tinged dark fruit but those tannins clamp down quickly on the short finish (87-88)

Some riper fruit notes remain, but it's more filled with darker, dried red and black fruits, sassafras, cola, and musty, earthy notes of soil and some funk. It's got good acid/tannin balance still and is nicely layered and went nicely with food. Drink soon. 88 pts. 7/5/12

Along with its Saint-Estèphe tannins, this wine proves to be richly fruity and complex, with notes of spice. The finish shows the acidity of the year. R.V. Wine Enthusiast. A Bordeaux Blend wine from Bordeaux in France. 2011 Cos Labory 750ml

Chateau Phelan Segur - St. Estephe FUTURES

External Review
Vintage: 2005 10/15/2009

A large estate of 220 acres planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, Phelan Segur is one of the nine crus bourgeois exceptionnels (four of which are in St Estephe). Harvesting is by hand, and the maturation is typically in 50% new oak. The 2005 is polished and fresh with lovely texture and harmony even now. It shows considerable length and a clean edge of acidity with very soft tannins. An excellent, expressive wine. Wine Spectator 89.
